Just wanted to drop a line to introduce myself to the site. I've been stopping by now and then for the better side of two months. Decided I should just as well register and join in all the fun that seems to take place here. I mean, where else can the ghost of the greatest outlaw actually physically manifest himself long enough to reply on a forum about him? Just joking around here at Kate's expence, no harm no foul, simple joke. Well, hmmm, I don't really have a whole lot more to say at this time. If there's anything anyone wants to know about me, feel free to ask. That's the only proper way to get know one another in my own opinion.
Oh, by the way...I may be from Texas, but I am not one of those Hicolites who fall prey to some old hoot whose stories don't match up.
My interest in the Kid goes back as far as I can remember. My mother was originally from El Paso, and my grandfather was from New Mexico. Anywho, I remember being around 5 or so, and my Grandpa used to call me Billy the Kid. I thought maybe he was just old and forgot my name. Once I found out that BTK was a real person and a cowboy above all, boy was excited. From that day on I was Billy the Kid, least in my own mind. As I grew older, I began to put childhood things away, all except for Billy. I'm not going to say that I put on some 6-shooters, and boots and run around the house, but I do like to imagine what it would have been like to ride with the Kid.
Note: I am making no claims to be related to Billy, nor am I claiming to be him. After re-reading the above, I could see how one could put it together.
Thanks for clearing that up. There are a lot of folks out there that have delusions of being related to Billy the Kid, but people claiming to be the Kid himself is a new one on me (well actually I got an email by one a while back). Anyways, it’s rare to meet someone who grew up with the stories of Billy the Kid, instead of by the Young Guns movies. I’m sure your grandfather grew up with the stories himself since he lived in New Mexico and was glad to pass them on to you. It's nice to see you didn’t out grow your interest in Billy the Kid and maybe you’ll pass his history on to your young family members.

Of course I shall tell the future generations of my family of Billy the Kid. I feel it not only to be a responsibility, but in fact a great honor. After all, if we, the generation of today do not keep passing down the torch that is BTK, his flame will surely burn out. My only hope is that in the coming years, future generations will hold Billy with the same respect that so many of us do today.
Howdy, Krewity! No! No Harm Done, Baby! In Fact you've made me Happy beyond Belief that your Loved one would Honor you with the Alias of my Loved One, Billy.
In Fact I am Crying some Happy Tears for this. Yes, Billy IS my Cousin.
I have a Completed Family Tree and other Documentation here at Home.
