This isn’t really a topic related to Billy the Kid, but since most viewers read this forum category, I will post what I have to say here (don't worry it's nothing bad).

I have constructed a new discussion board. I have had problems with this forum and I’ve been getting frustrated with its limitations compared to what I (and my members) could have. The new board is completed, but I’m still refining it and want to make sure it’s good and ready for you all. It’s a widely used message board on the Internet and some of you may be familiar with this type, but unlike this current board that is plain and simple, it’s a bit more complicated because of its additional features. Don't worry, it will take you no time to get the hang of it and I truly hope you all will stay with me and post on my new board –after all, I did it for you guys.

When the new board is up, I’ll put it on a trial run and see how it works out.  I’ll still keep this one up, but as a closed forum. Anyways, if things work out, I hope to have the new discussion board up by Monday or Tuesday. Oh….one last thing, when the new board is up, my members here will have to register again –sorry.

I wanted Phpbb, but I was having trouble trying to download it off the Internet. There's a lot to set up and files to create, and none of the tech support with Phpbb or my site's host would help me. I'm not that knowledgable with computers and I was getting really frustrated, so I gave up and looked around for another one. When I was visiting other websites to look at their discussion boards, I kept seeing this one in particular, both Proboards.com and Xsorbit.com host it, so I checked it out. It's less confusing to create (although there were times I was pulling my hair out with all those html and url codes) and it offers most of the features of Phpbb, so I went with that one. So far my new board is basic looking and I hope as I learn more, I'll be able to get it to match the look and theme of my website.

I see.  I have some proboards MB's I understand that Xsorbit isn't that different, if you need any help, I'm here.  Thanks for putting so much time into it for us!  It's not too easy to learn all of that stuff.

Actually I could use your help. I’m using Proboards and I’ve absolutely worn myself out trying to figure how to use their program, like I mentioned, my computer skills are pretty basic and I don’t understand the html and url codes very well with web designing. Anyways, I want to put up a banner at the top of my message board (a pic of Billy the Kid with the message board title –nothing too elaborate) and I figured out through the Proboard Support Forum how to put in the html code in the admin. control panel, but my question is (and I know this is going to sound very naive) but how do you create a banner in the first place???

Another thing is when I opened my account with them, they used my first name in my message board url address, not my website.  I would prefer it to read http//aboutbillythekid.proboards.com. Do you know if it's possible to change one's message board url address? Thanks for any tips you can pass on to me.

I have no clue on the banner thing.  I do know where to put it but not how to make one.  I know a few people that make logos for people - maybe they could help you.  You can do a search for blank banners on google, then use your paint program to write what you will on it, then host it.  Or instead of a banner just use Billy's photo?

I had that problem forever.  What you do is delete the account you have, and where you put your first name in, put what you want for the name of the site.

There are sevral sites to help with color html codes.  Such as: http://www.december.com/html/spec/color.html and the list goes on and on.  I can help with colors if you wish.

Just so you know that I'm not full of hot air, these are some MB's I've designed:

http://mxracer7779.proboards25.com/index.cgi (Slow on weekends and Holidays - but I do avradge about 100 posts a day besides)

http://lmmontgomery.proboards34.com/ (Two posts a week?)

http://ifbaptistteens.proboards18.com/ (The less said about this one the better...)

Thanks for your help! I'll search around the web for free blank banners/logos and just continue to experiment and maybe something will work.

I hate to delete my account and start all over now that my board is already completed and will be put up later today. You would think they would warn you and let you know. I guess I'll just have to deal with it or maybe I can ask tech support at Proboards.com.

If I have any further questions or problems, I'll keep you mind. Thanks again and see you at my new message board.

(We can continue this converstation on my new board's small talk forum).
