first, great idea to start this forum, looks really good!
I have a question bout michael ondaatje book; the collected works of billy the kid. there is a interview with billy in it. with a newspaper called "the texas star". I really doubt this interview. he's saying things i never read before anywhere, can someone tell me more about this book or interview?
I have a copy of "The Collected Works of Billy the Kid" and I don't trust this interview myself...I couldn't tell you if it was really published in any newspaper, but judging from alot of the articles that were published about Billy at that time, it probably doesn't make a whole lot of difference. The majority of articles published were sunsationalized and exaggerated...most of what we THOUGHT we knew about Billy, such as his birthdate, his age, etc, came from Pat Garrett's "Authentic Life of Billy the Kid", and this interview sounds too much like it came straight from that book.
A suggestion: A very good read, is Fred Nolan's annotation of Pat Garrett's "Authentic Life of Billy the Kid", because he shoots down all the myths that book put in place.
