I was wondering if anyone had any information on Ash Upson. I read in Robert Utley's book that he was born in Connecticut. Then I read in one of Frederick Nolan's books that he was born in South Carolina. Thanks, any info on him would be great. I love the website by the way!
Although I have nothing against Robert Utley, I would have to go with Frederick Nolan. Mr. Nolan has spent more years researching Billy the Kid and he is the most notable historian on the subject. So that's my

I have Fred Nolan's book, it is very good and it's confusing when you know nothing about that subject but since I started it, I watched the two 2 shows on Billy and that has helped, plus watching the Young Guns and especially our webmaster's telling all the things that were wrong or right with the movie. Any other good Billy books out there?
Although this book isn't about Ash Upson, you might try getting a copy of Fred Nolan's annotated version of Ash's and Garrett's "Authentic Life of BTK". Mr. Nolan goes through the entire book and points out all the inaccuracies written by Ash. It's an interesting read.
Hi---I'm new to this forum. I teach an American West history course in high school. This fall the emphisis will be on Hero's & Villians: Truth vs. Myth.
We'll even be looking at the good and bad lawmen (thanks to Del Cain's excellent books on the subject).
