If you could go back to that night, July 14, 1881, and tell Billy Pat Garrett was around that he needed to get the heck out of dodge.....How would things be different?
Or would Billy have ignored the warning? It's just a thought.....
I believe Billy would've hightailed it out of there or at least have hidden himself in one of the homes of his friends in Fort Sumner. I don't believe he would've "investigated" Maxwell's house to see if Garrett was still around or had left the area. Billy was reckless and daring, but he wasn't stupid.

I agree-- If someone had told Billy that Pat Garrett was there, he would have definately gotten away from the Maxwell house.
I'm not quite sure that he would leave New Mexico right then, though. I think the reason he came to the Maxwell's was for Paulita and his unborn child. Unfortunately, Pat Garrett was waiting for him.
I don't see how anyone could say that Billy was guilty of murder; he looked so innocent...
Actually Catherine, Billy was Not at Ft. Sumner to see Paulita, and she Never said if the Child she was Carrying was Billy's or not.
Billy was there to see his Significant Other, Abrana Garcia, and thier Son, Patrocinio, and to bid them Farewell, as he was going to Leave them, Never again to see them after that Night.
Something tells me that Abrana would have Followed him, with thier Son, and Settled Elsewhere, Dropping from the Pages of History Forever.
Pat Garrett, in this Case, Committed Cold Blooded Murder, and Billy was Ambushed and Killed, and I believe that Paulita and the rest had a hand in it.
