I first loved and lost in this vacinity, I still visit the area on occasion, in point of fact, I am going there tomorrow in search of books on the "Kid", not expecting too much luck though. There are more bookshops here per square inch than anywhere else in the world. (I just made that up) but it feels not too far from the truth!!
Hiya Robert. So, you're from Scotland, eh? My husband and I live in Newcastle upon Tyne. He's a Geordie and I'm an American. As much as I love it here in England I far prefer Scotland. Such a beautiful country with warm, friendly people. Visited Glasgow in August 2002 while on our way to our holiday cottage at Carradale in Kintyre. After picking up hubby's kilt at MacGregor & MacDuff on Bath Street we had a nice wander around Glasgow
By the way, the best place to buy books in Scotland is Wigtown, the National Book Town of Scotland. For a book lover like myself it is Heaven! LOL!
You've got that right! The Geordies and the Svots get on great and have a lot of respect for each other. But the Geordies and those Brits from the South are so different its as if they aren't from the same country at all! My husband took me as far South as Oxford last year. I have vowed to NEVER go South again. It was just such an unfriendly and discomforting feeling down that way. But Scotland I love! We make sure to visit Dumfries and the Galloway area at least 3 or 4 times a year. I think that the old Border Reiver alliances make the Geordies and Scots such good companions. I've even been hearing talk that Newcastle is seeking to become a part of Scotland. My husband and I are all for it and would gladly swear allegience to Scotland. But being the 25th great-granddaughter of Somerled, the progenitor of clan MacDonald, does make me a bit biased
