I got to see The Kid's documentry on the Young Guns dvd, I also heard there was a thing on him in the 90's on Unsloved Mysteries (about Brushy vs. Billy etc.) Anyone have any info on that one, what year it came out and what was said? I also mist the 1 hr. documentry on Discovery earlier this year. Can anyone describe what was said, or if I have a chance to catch it again or buy it? Lastly I was wondering if the Biography channel brought out on of the Kid's yet, anyone know? also the year and any other info? And if there are any other documentry's and such you know about I would more then love to hear about it.
I cannot STRESS to you enough to avoid the Brushy Bill Roberts debate. For someone who’s just starting to research Billy the Kid, you really don't need to learn about Brushy. The reason for my assertiveness is I find that many beginners are easily seduced by the Roberts story and if I can avoid that from happening I will do what I can to steer them away from it. Although if you must…I suggest viewing my Billy vs. Brushy web page and Lucas Speer’s Brushy Bill Roberts web page.
As for the Unsolved Mysteries segment on Brushy, it gave both sides of the debate and ended with a “who knows?” type of ending with no real answers. The Discovery Channel documentary “Billy the Kid Unmasked” was a huge disappointment and not at all like the “Billy the Kid Unmasked” interactive website that I have posted on the Home page of this website. The documentary was mainly a commercial for the DNA investigation and only stirred up debate –not resolving it.
So far the only documentary I’ve seen on Billy the Kid that was really good was the one on the Young Guns DVD. Anyways, I’ll check back with you on this one, because there is a good one that I think the History Channel did last year, but I can’t remember the details. I’ll have to look into it.

I accidentally post my response on another thread, but I found out which documentary that I was referring to. It was part of a mini-series on gunfighters on The Learning Channel called Gunfighters of the West: Billy the Kid narrated by Brian Dennehy by Non Fiction Films Presentation of a DVTV Productions for The Learning Channel. Another good documentary was from the series “The Real West” narrated by Kenny Rogers, they did a segment on Billy the Kid and the Lincoln County War. They sometimes rerun that series on the History Channel. I don’t know if you can purchase these shows on VHS or DVD, but if you visit the channels' websites you may be able to find out.
I want to rephrase a comment I made on my pervious post above. Recently there were two documentaries aired earlier this year, Billy the Kid Unmasked on the Discovery Channel and a segment on the Billy the Kid exhumation on Investigating History on the History Channel. It was Investigating History that was a commercial for the DNA investigation, although the history part was decent, it was very one-sided and bias concerning the exhumation. Unmasked focused mainly on reenactments on wild notions and controversies on Billy the Kid. Both programs were responsible for stirring up a lot of dust.

A while back I ordered the Roy Rogers Movie "The Kid Returns." (I can't remember exactly what it is called.) I only ordered it because it said it came with a documentary.
That documentary was pretty good. Bob Boze Bell was in it, and so was Drew Gomber. Some of the other "historians" on it weren't quite so accurate with their stories.
