The webmaster for the Billy the Kid Outlaw Gang's website had tried reaching Tom McFarlane without success to inquire on Mr. McFarlane's reasons for including Billy the Kid in his latest series. He has finally responed ! Visit www.nmia.com/~btkog to read his explaination such as it is.
I just read it, what a load of hog wash from the toy maker. Creative license my butt...I can safely say this is not a representation of the BTK I love, this is a representation of how uniformed people shouldn't let a Young Guns education go too far.
McFarlene toys sure gave a lame excuse in that letter. He didn't exactly explain why Billy the Kid is a "Mad" killer and why he’s in the series along with the likes of Jack the Ripper and Elizabeth Bethany. My question to them is did they do any research whatsoever on Billy the Kid? Did they even look at a photo of him? It appears they had seen too many spaghetti westerns because they sure didn't view any historical photographs.
I can imagine some people would think the BTKOG and we here are over-reacting, but the general public (who already thinks Billy the Kid is a homicidal maniac) is going to see this action figure in the Six Faces of Madness series and think that Billy the Kid really was a brutal and vicious killer. It's pretty frustrating when you're trying to educate the public and dismiss all the myths and misconceptions about Billy the Kid just to have something like this come along. Oh well, it's not like this doll is going to be on display at the counter of every toy store around the world -I'll be surprised if I come across it.

they have obviously skim read a shor article on Billy there when they said "people belive he did not survive his final showdown with garrett" or whatever the quote was. They obviously have no clue and Have no idea what they are doing. Billy the kid should definetly not be compared with Vlad the impaler ( a man that launched rotting carcasses into towns to spread diseases, a man that bathed in the blood of the thousands of women he raped and murdered) Billy is definetly not in the same league as a man like that, Or some barbarian like Atila the hun. Its all money, thats all the company wants. Maybe if they took some time and did some research they would realise that Billy was not some murderer that killed who and when he felt like and they should look into it properly, but then again they probably dont have time while there making there new Jesus wrestling dolls................
